Research Colloquium winner Mariah Heck wins with NASA project

2017 TU Research Colloquium Winner Mariah Heck

Geosciences senior Mariah Heck won first place at The University of Tulsa 2017 Research Colloquium this spring. Heck’s presentation involved using Landsat and AVIRIS imagery to study the spectral patterns of bark beetle infestations in the Sierra National Forest.

Heck’s project originated in the NASA Student Airborne Research Program during the summer 2016. After earning her bachelor’s degree from TU, she plans use her NASA contacts and obtain another internship before entering graduate school to study planetary science.
