Program Objectives

Bachelor of Science

Students who complete the undergraduate program will:

  1. Become competent petroleum engineering professionals.
  2. Analyze and design engineering systems, understand the associated uncertainties, and evaluate the economic, environmental, and social impacts.
  3. Synthesize inputs from various sources, apply multidisciplinary fundamentals and articulate technical concepts.

Master of Engineering

The objective of the Master of Engineering (ME) degree is:

  1. Demonstrate advanced technical skills in petroleum engineering or related area.
  2. Demonstrate high standards of ethical, environmental, and societal awareness.
  3. Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills.

Master of Science in Engineering

The objectives of the Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) degree are:

  1. Demonstrate advanced research skills in petroleum engineering or related area.
  2. Conduct an independent research work in petroleum engineering or related area.
  3. Demonstrate high standards of ethical, environmental, and societal awareness.
  4. Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills.

Doctor of Philosophy

The objectives of the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree are:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in the professional skills needed to become competent researchers, university professors, and scientists in petroleum industry and/or academia
  2. Synthesize, critique, apply, and extend major theories and methods and/or perform advanced engineering systems design in petroleum engineering or related area.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to direct teams towards state-of-the-art in their research.
  4. Demonstrate high standards of ethical, environmental, and societal awareness.
  5. Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills.
