Two University of Tulsa Chem-E-Car teams competed during the AIChE Mid-America Regional Student Regional Conference April 20-21 at Oklahoma State University. Students were required to design, build and drive a car that could travel 20 meters. Team Lead Zeppelin, led by senior Jared Sipes, won third place with a distance of 20.68 meters. Team Camilla, directed by senior Jeremiah Ort, earned eighth place by running 16.05 meters.
Both groups were advised by Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering Hema Ramsurn. Team Lead Zeppelin advances to the national competition at the AIChE Annual Meeting this fall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
