Fulbright Summer Institute welcomes TU student Conner Bender

Conner Bender to attend Fulbright Summer Institute

University of Tulsa student Conner Bender has received an invitation to attend the Fulbright Summer Institute and study abroad in the United Kingdom during summer 2017. Bender is a TU Presidential Scholar and sophomore majoring in computer science and mathematics. As a Fulbright Summer Institute participant, he will spend three weeks studying at the University of Strathclyde and the Glasgow School of Art in Glasgow, Scotland.

fulbright summer institute“I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity,” Bender said. “I hope the curriculum and work will allow me to learn the cybersecurity protocols and research projects that are housed within the city of Glasgow.”

He is among 10 undergraduate students from the United States who will conduct research in Glasgow through the Fulbright program. The U.S.-U.K. Fulbright Commission promotes leadership, learning and empathy between nations through educational exchange. Each year, the commission supports 60 students in a demanding academic and cultural summer program at leading institutions in the United Kingdom and the United States.
