McKinney named Outstanding TURC Mentor

TU has honored Brett McKinney, who holds the William K. Warren, Jr., Endowed Chair in Bioinformatics, with the 2014 Outstanding Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge (TURC) Mentor award. McKinney serves as associate professor of mathematics and computer science in the Department of Mathematics and the Tandy School of Computer Science.

The TURC program enables undergraduates to take challenging courses and conduct advanced research under the guidance of top TU professors. TURC creates leaders in scholarship, research and public life through undergraduate research and community involvement.

Outstanding TURC Mentors are selected for their commitment to student development and achievement as well as passion for research discovery. McKinney has mentored TURC students for the past five years.
