Don Green and Doug York join Hall of Fame

The University of Tulsa Engineering Hall of Fame honored alumni Don Green (BS ’55) and Doug York (BS ’83) as its 2017 inductees during a special ceremony April 20 at Gilcrease Museum.

Don Green

Green is Emeritus Distinguished Professor of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at The University of Kansas. He earned a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from TU and master’s and doctoral degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Oklahoma. Green has authored or coauthored 65 refereed publications, more than 100 technical meeting presentations and the Society of Petroleum Engineers textbook, Enhanced Oil Recovery. He also is an editor of the 6th, 7th, and 8th editions of Perry’s Chemical Engineers’ Handbook.

Green is a past Society of Petroleum Engineers Distinguished Lecturer and an honorary member of both SPE and the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers. He is also an American Institute of Chemical Engineers Fellow.

York is a founder and managing director of Sequel Energy Group LLC. Sequel was formed in 2016 to invest in drilling joint ventures in North American resource plays. York has served in many managerial and executive roles during his tenure in the exploration and production sector. He established the privately held Sequel Energy LLC in 2006 to focus on the acquisition and development of interests in Louisiana, Oklahoma and North Dakota.

Doug York

York earned a bachelor’s in petroleum engineering from TU and previously served on the TU Petroleum Engineering Advisory Board. He is a past board member of the Independent Petroleum Association of the Mountain States and the Montana Petroleum Association. York currently serves on the board of KLR Energy Acquisition Corp. and the development board of Colorado UpLift. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Colorado and a member of the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers.
