TU Professor of Biological Science has received a $283,125 grant from the National Science Foundation to support his research on the ecology and behavior of cliff swallow birds.
Brown will use the award to study how cliff swallows over the past 30 years have developed a tolerance to the blood-sucking parasite known as the swallow bug that infests the birds’ nests and negatively affects their fitness.
This year marks Brown’s 35th year to study cliff swallows in western Nebraska.
